Apple has just announced a new CarPlay that becomes the car’s entire interface. As technology advances, we are seeing a shift in the way that cars are being designed. With the advent of CarPlay, Apple is looking to make the car’s old operating system obsolete. This new CarPlay is designed to make every car function easier to use, from a gauge cluster screen to the center stack.
The trend of giant screens in cars has been increasing for a few years now. It offers more space to display information while eliminating the use of physical switches and gauges. Apple is taking full vantage of the growing trend and is all in on improving the tech.
Out with the Old Apple CarPlay and in with the New Apple CarPlay
Not only will we have the CarPlay of today, but you will also have traditional car interfaces displayed within the new CarPlay as well. These interfaces will be much more user-friendly and customizable where you can see trip and fuel information, right alongside Apple Maps route guidance and upcoming calendar appointments.
As you can see, the future of car interfaces is looking very bright. Car manufacturers are looking forward to it as well. Apple presented a variety of partnered brands to include the new CarPlay by the end of 2023. The brands include Land Rover, Mercedes, Porsche, Nissan, Ford, Lincoln, Audi, Jaguar, Acura, Volvo, Honda, Renault, Infinity, and Polestar.
A Savage Dad’s Final Thought
I am personally looking forward to the new interface and features. I just hope that everyone will be able to enjoy the benefits of the new Apple tech. We need to see a push in making it available for cars in the $20k range as well. What kind of features would you like to see included with the new Apple CarPlay?
